I'm generally a fun-loving guy who likes flash animations, because that crap on TV isn't worthy of my eyes.

Freaking computer!
7/23/08 by eleifsp
Ok. I have had an eMachines computer for a while now. I've had it since I was thirteen, back in 2003. 7 months ago my PSU (power unit for non-tech-savvy people) died, taking the motherboard with it AND corrupting my Windows drive to boot. After replacing the PSU and MOBO and installing Windows again, the thing worked well, except for it's lame graphics. I upgraded the graphics card about two months ago on my birthday, when I got the nVidia graphics card of my dreams: It was a $50 card that had 256 MB of built-in RAM and some other specs I didn't fully understand. All I knew was that it made my graphics look great and my computer run faster. Heck, using the new Adobe (Macromedia, dammit!) Flash player 10 I could make Flash animations run faster, smoother, and better thanks to the card. Then, 2 weeks ago, it died. Symptoms point to only one culprit: A faulty PSU. *Insert every curse word you know here*
Now, that was bad enough as is. Then it just seems that insult had to be added to injury. My parents lent me their Sony Vaio computer that was slightly older than my old eMachines, on the grounds that I couldn't install Linux or Firefox or anything that I normally would install, and that I use their account and other things that were annoying but usable.
It started making funny noises (presumably the hard disk, at the time), but I just ignored it for the moment. Then, yesterday, I was running 7Zip portable on my flash drive so that I could install GIMP portable (a good, free photoshop replacement), and it said that the compressing process would take around 1.5 to 2 hours. Great, not a problem. I go off to watch TV (not like there was anything on, but the computer was using all it's CPU cycles and I couldn't do anything *cough newgrounds cough*). Now, mind you, I wanted to install GIMP so that I could make an avatar for Newgrounds since for some odd reason this computer keeps deleting Microsoft-made software off of it. Paint's gone, Sound Recorder's gone, and the other day I found out that the ****ing volume control is gone! WTF???
Anyway, I come back to the computer after just a half-hour (I hate tv.), and find that the computer has crashed, restarted itself, and is now telling me that the hard disk is about to fail. Now I have to backup my data. Can I use any computer and NOT have it break this month?
So now, not only do I have to shop for a new Laptop so that I have a computer for college, but now I have to find a decent hard disk for my parents.
And then, on top of all that, my only external hard drive is currently holding the backup data from my crashed computer. I can't do anything with it, because if I do, I'll delete that backup (which I feel is more important that the disk in the Vaio).
I dislike computers right now.
